The Problem?
The Goodreads app creates friction at multiple stages. Outdated, Confusing layouts, broken task flows, and missing functionality push users out of the app, breaking the experience.
Focus Areas
Discovery
Make finding books and recommendations effortless.
Organisation
Improve how users effectively and consistently organize their reading progress.
Community
Strengthen social interactions and group participation.
The Solution
My solution was a complete redesign of the mobile app, focusing on the Key Areas we established previously.
Key Improvements
A Modern Design System
Made a modern scalable design system to maintain a consistency throughout the entire app.
Intuitive Discovery
Introduced a feed section to encourage exploratory discovery and a search page for targeted discovery.
Effective Organisation
Simplified the organisation flow and made book tracking more visible and rewarding.
A Better Community
Restructured the IA for community features to be more accessible, making it easier for users to join discussions.
Scope of Work
The scope included identifying usability gaps, rethinking navigation and feature access, creating a scalable design system, and delivering a high-fidelity interactive prototype supported by research insights.
